- Marvel’s Wolverine was the best-selling game in the US for September.
- The game delivered Sony’s highest monthly dollar sales for a published title since 2024’s Helldivers 2
- PlayStation’s latest blog also notes that it topped digital sales in the US and finished second in Europe.
Marvel’s Wolverine launched last month, but the game wasn’t as universally praised as some of Insomniac Games’ other works.
In particular, the title was criticized for its hand-holding, with even the likes of God of War creator David Jaffe being quite harsh on it. However, recent data shows that the title ended up as the best-selling game in the US for September.
Why it matters: Marvel seems to have set a hefty sales goal for Insomniac Games, so this initial momentum is extremely important for the title.

Circana’s Mat Piscatella notes that Marvel’s Wolverine outsold titles like NBA 2K27 and EA Sports FC 27 in the US last month. The report also mentions that PS5 hardware sales grew 43% YOY in September, likely due to excitement for the Wolverine title and the upcoming GTA 6.
Interestingly, Circana even noted that Marvel’s Wolverine generated the most dollar sales of any first-party PlayStation title since Helldivers 2’s release in 2024. Note that Helldivers 2 launched on both PC and PS5 at the same time, so this milestone is quite impressive.
Elsewhere, PlayStation’s own blog post confirms that Marvel’s Wolverine topped the PS Store rankings in the US. Second only to EA Sports FC 27, the game also performed well on the European PS Store.

While PlayStation has yet to share exact sales figures, the data does suggest that Insomniac Games’ latest release was a commercial success.
