Respawn Is Working On Star Wars Battlefront 3 With Battlefield 6 Dev DICE, Says Wardogs CEO

Bungie Is Not Involved In The Project According To Joe Brammer.

Story Highlight
  • Respawn is co-developing Battlefront 3 alongside DICE, as per the producer of Wardogs.
  • The studio has previously worked on the Star Wars Jedi sub-series for Lucasfilm.
  • Wardogs producer Joe Brammer does not know what DICE’s involvement says about the future of Battlefield.

Star Wars video games have been on an impressive run this decade, with the latest title in the franchise, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, earning rave reviews from critics and fans alike. The Jedi sub-series has also helped the IP regain relevance in the gaming ecosystem, with both of the story-focused entries from Respawn becoming critical and commercial hits.

However, one of the most popular sub-franchises under Lucasfilm’s care, Star Wars Battlefront, hasn’t made a comeback in almost a decade following its last release in 2017. However, it seems like a sequel is finally in production at EA.

Why it matters: Respawn is the most logical choice to helm Battlefront 3 alongside DICE, as the developer’s other Star Wars games have been commercial juggernauts that have managed to capture the magnificent scale of the franchise.

According to Joe Brammer, the producer of indie hit Wardogs, Battlefield 6 developer DICE is currently working on Star Wars Battlefront 3 alongside Respawn. The CEO of indie studio Bulkhead revealed this info on X after rumors of Bungie working on the sequel started appearing on social media.

Brammer clarified that Lucasfilm is working with Respawn and DICE on Star Wars Battlefront 3, and that he has no idea what this means for the future of the Battlefield franchise. Considering how Battlefield 6 has been consistently trying to gain players and failing, with even a free trial falling flat, this isn’t a good indicator for the FPS title.

Regardless, with a sequel to Star Wars Jedi Survivor reportedly in production at EA, the company is going all out on the Franchise. Lucasfilm is also keeping its promise of surprising Star Wars fans with the upcoming slate of video games, as many hadn’t seen news about Battlefront 3 coming anytime soon.

Star Wars Jedi Nintendo Switch 2
Respawn previously worked on the Jedi series, finding critical and commercial success.

But it remains to be seen if Respawn and DICE can develop a sequel that fans like or fall prey to the predatory microtransactions included in 2017’s Battlefront 2.

Do you think the upcoming sequel will be better due to Respawn’s involvement? Do you have high expectations for Battlefront 3? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.
