- Project Hadar has moved beyond the initial vision-defining phase at CDPR.
- The studio is still far from pre-production and is currently being tested through small prototypes.
- CDPR has described the new IP Hadar as its biggest undertaking yet.
In addition to The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, CD Projekt Red is currently working on a brand new IP. Dubbed Project Hadar, the game is said to be an action RPG focusing on melee combat.
After previously commenting on the game’s progress, the studio now indicates that the new IP has moved past the early vision stage.
Why it matters: Project Hadar could be one of CDPR’s most important releases whenever it finally arrives. The studio already has two massive brands, so a third addition to its portfolio would be a huge deal.

CD Projekt Red has noted that Project Hadar has reached a coherent vision, with CDPR progressing past this stage.
However, the team has also noted that pre-production is still quite far away, with the game being tested through small prototypes and builds for certain gameplay elements. Project Hadar was first revealed in 2022 as a new IP being developed internally at CDPR.
However, the team also has to release The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel before Project Hadar. As such, the IP will not be as big a priority for the studio anytime soon.

Elsewhere, CDPR has described Project Hadar as its biggest undertaking yet.
The game may not necessarily have the biggest scope of any CDPR game ever, but the fact that the team has no source material to pull from means that Project Hadar is already a huge challenge.
What do you think of CDPR’s vision for Project Hadar?
