Ace Combat 8 was in development for a while, and the game has finally been released. While initial impressions from the players weren’t as impressive as expected, the game’s Steam reviews have now improved quite a bit.
Ace Combat 8 currently stands at “Mostly Positive” Steam reviews.
Why it matters: The Ace Combat IP has reached millions of players, making it one of Bandai Namco’s bigger IPs.

Ace Combat 8 is off to a decent start on Steam, with the game landing in the “Mostly Positive” review range shortly after launch.
Looking at the reviews themselves, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve appears to have resonated with many players. Gamers have praised the title’s core gameplay and physics, complimenting how the planes themselves feel.
Moreover, many claim that the story is better than Ace Combat 7’s. Some have even called Ace Combat 8 the peak of the franchise. Elsewhere, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve has earned a great score on Metacritic.
Currently standing at a rating of 88/100, the title has outmatched its predecessor.
Of course, the game isn’t without its critics. In particular, some have called out the title’s performance, noting that DLSS can help the disappointing performance across a wide range of hardware.
RAM consumption has also raised concerns, with many claiming the game has a memory leak issue. However, these concerns aside, it appears Bandai Namco has nailed the core elements of Ace Combat with the latest release.
