The recently-released Resident Evil film adaptation has been racking up a lot of praise from both fans and critics. Following its success, Capcom also appears to be making the most of the situation by offering fans a discount on some of the best Resident Evil titles. Why it matters: Many fans doubted the upcoming Resident Evil film, but it seems this movie is set to introduce the series to a whole new audience. The Resident Evil series has seen a major sales jump on PS5 after Capcom discounted the game around the release window of Zach Cregger’s new Resident Evil film. According to data from Alinea Analytics, the series’ PS5 sales rose significantly following the discount and the movie’s strong opening. It said that Resident Evil 2 Remake saw a 64% increase in sales, while Resident Evil 4 Remake saw a 54% sales uptick on the PS5. The games also saw an 11% and 14% sales boost on Steam, respectively. As for Resident Evil 3 Remake, the title saw a 25% jump in daily player counts. Therefore, all three of Capcom’s Resident Evil remakes have seen boosts in daily player counts on the PS5 as a result of the film. Ultimately, the film seems to have succeeded in presenting a balanced take on the series, one that is enjoyable to both longtime fans and newcomers. Therefore, many new and returning players are currently showing a lot of interest in the best modern Resident Evil titles.
