Despite its popularity, Denuvo DRM is also quite susceptible to cracking, and it seems the company is not too fond of modders and hackers bypassing its protection. Denuvo is now suing a popular hacker who has removed the protection from multiple games.
Why it matters: Denuvo will be used across upcoming games like Phantom Blade Zero. Even big AAA titles like Crimson Desert shipped with the DRM.
As reported via Resetera, Denuvo is taking legal action against voices38, a hacker accused of bypassing the company’s DRM protection in 26 games.
Denuvo is not only targeting the alleged DRM bypasses, but also wants to uncover the hacker’s real identity through platforms like Reddit. The company has identified a few profiles it believes are linked to the hacker and seeks further verification.
As per Denuvo, voices38 has bypassed the DRM across games like Hogwarts Legacy and Black Myth: Wukong. As such, the company might subpoena platforms like Reddit and Discord in an attempt to identify the hacker.
Of course, this legal action also means that Denuvo doesn’t have much of an answer to the actions of voices38. The company is, therefore, now seeking to stop the bypassing of its DRM through legal means.
