The GTA 6 leaks caught the entire gaming industry off guard, with the premature gameplay footage giving us the first glimpse into the reimagined world of Vice City. This incident has greatly affected the morale of Rockstar developers, alongside frustrations at Netflix.
Rockstar Games has now officially responded to the GTA 6 leaks in a new statement. The company acknowledges that the industry has been waiting to hear its response since the spree of leaks began a week ago, calling the leaks ‘heartbreaking’ for the team.
Why it matters: Rockstar has acknowledged that the leak has drastically hurt the studio, calling it an understatement to dub the incident heartbreaking for the team. Regardless, the company still plans to deliver the game at the level we expect and deserve.
On Twitter, Rockstar claims it did not intend for GTA 6 fans to experience the open world via premature gameplay leaks. Thus, the company has apologized to the community for not being able to prevent the footage from coming out.
It would be an understatement to say that having videos of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team.

Rockstar also apologized for taking so long with the game and its reveal.
Regardless, even if the experience has been marred by spoilers, the developers still plan to ‘exceed’ our expectations and deliver GTA 6 at the level we ‘expect and deserve.’
Nevertheless, Rockstar Games is ‘still very excited’ for the Netflix extended look into GTA 6 that is planned for tomorrow. The open world is also still planned to launch on November 19, 2026.
