- Seasonic says the Prime Enterprise RX-1600 has received 80 Plus Ruby certification.
- This is the first ATX power supply to achieve the Ruby rating.
- The power supply is a great fit for AI and high-end workstation tasks, in addition to premium gaming PC builds.
Seasonic has announced that its 1600W Prime Enterprise RX-1600 power supply has earned 80 Plus Ruby certification. This is a notable moment for the PSU market, especially as modern GPUs and workstation builds keep pushing power requirements higher.
Why it matters: The PSU market has spent years treating 80 Plus Titanium as the premium efficiency tier most enthusiasts recognize. Ruby now gives manufacturers another high-end target, and Seasonic getting there first in an ATX form factor is a strong technical statement.

80 Plus ratings measure PSU efficiency at different load levels. Better efficiency means less power wasted as heat, which can help with thermals, noise, and long-term power costs. This is especially relevant for users already looking at premium units like the Seasonic TX 1600.
The 80 Plus Ruby certification entails achieving 85% efficiency at 5% load, 91% efficiency at 10% load, and so on at 115 V. At full load, the PSU must achieve 91% efficiency. As such, the 80 Plus Ruby certification requires strong efficiency even when the power supply is barely being pushed.
Of course, not every gaming PC needs a 1600W 80 Plus Ruby PSU. However, for those relying on AI workloads and high-end workstation tasks, this Seasonic power supply is a very suitable choice.
Even in the case of some high-end gaming PC builds, these premium PSUs can come in handy. Anyone planning an extreme graphics card setup should look at actual system requirements, as covered in our RTX 5090 PSU guide.
The best part is that efficiency standards are still moving. ATX 3.1 and high-wattage PSUs are already becoming more common in premium builds, and Seasonic’s latest certification gives other brands a new benchmark to chase.
