Devs Still Hope To See Halo 2 Remake, But Halo Studios Is Struggling With Various Projects!

Story Highlight
  • Halo Campaign Evolved’s development was reportedly full of hurdles and required the team to shift focus away from other tasks.
  • Following the recent turmoil, it is said that Halo 2 Remake may not make it through full development.
  • Past rumors teased plans for a full Halo trilogy remake series, but nothing is set in stone for now.

Xbox has officially joined the trend of remakes with Halo Campaign Evolved, but the series’ first major re-release has reportedly been held back by a slew of management and development troubles.

Because Halo Studios practically did all it could merely to ship the game on time, a new report suggests that the team currently remains uncertain about future remakes for the series.

Why it matters: Halo 2 Remake has been rumored for a while now, and a sequel was even teased in Halo Campaign Evolved’s ending. However, the game’s completion is not guaranteed for now.

Popular Halo insider Rebs Gaming now reports that Halo 2 Remake’s future remains uncertain.

In a recent video report, he discusses the fact that many current projects at Halo Studios are still in early development, because the team was entirely focused on shipping the first remake over the last year.

This means that a second Halo remake is not guaranteed for the time being, with the studio juggling many different things at once. As per the report, even Project Ekur’s cancellation was related to the team being entirely focused on the first remake.

My source told me there’s uncertainty around the rumored Halo 2 Remake. To save Campaign Evolved, Halo Studios had to go all hands on deck with development.

Due to how bad development went, there’s uncertainty whether the remake will make it through full development.

Halo Campaign Evolved
The remake ditched the in-house Slipspace Engine in favor of UE5.

Fortunately, it seems Halo Studios is at least quite interested in remaking the second title. Studio Technical Art Director Yibo Liu recently wrote on LinkedIn that he hopes to see the series’ first remake lead to more great things in the future.

This could be considered a hint at Halo 2 Remake, though the team’s stressful position means that nothing is guaranteed for the time being.
