- Ubisoft has announced its intentions to go all-in on AI tools for game development.
- The company intends to combine its past experiences with artificial intelligence tools for streamlined development.
- Ubisoft believes this decision will result in a diverse content pipeline from the team by 2029.
Ubisoft has faced an uphill battle with poor management, and the company’s latest earnings report confirms it has laid off over 1,000 developers over the last 12 months as part of ongoing restructuring.
As the French publisher continues to contemplate a solution, it is now turning towards AI to optimize game development across its many studios.
Why it matters: It was previously said that almost all major publishers and studios were pushing for AI integration into game development, and this report more or less confirms past suspicions.

According to its latest financial report, Ubisoft intends to use AI to enhance player experience and team creativity.
The report references expedited work on Ubisoft Teammates, a playable generative AI experience from the company announced previously. Moreover, the French publisher states that it intends to streamline game development using artificial intelligence.
Towards that end, Ubisoft is working on the likes of AI bots to support QC teams, smarter NPCs, and more. According to the studio, it will now combine AI with experience on a plethora of different games to deliver tools that enhance its developers’ creativity.

Ubisoft states in the same report that it expects a very strong and diverse pipeline of games by 2029.
As part of its overarching plans, the company likely expects AI to play a major role in optimizing its development processes to make this pipeline of games possible in the coming years.
For now, Ubisoft has its eye set on Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, which releases later this year in July, and is showing a lot of potential so far.
