Dark Souls Could Made A Grand Comeback!

Story Highlight
  • A source states that the Dark Souls trilogy is being remade.
  • The remakes could bring major improvements to the first two entries of the series.
  • Fans have had mixed reactions to the report so far.

FromSoftware is one of the AAA industry’s biggest studios today. In addition to Game of the Year winners like Elden Ring and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the Dark Souls franchise from the studio stands out as one of gaming’s most influential IPs to date.

While the series has mostly stayed dormant following the release of Dark Souls 3, FromSoftware could finally be gearing up for new releases. According to the latest reports, the series is getting the remake treatment.

Why it matters: Past reports already hinted at a Dark Souls 3 remaster, but it appears these plans have now shifted.

The Original Dark Souls Is Considered A Classic By Many

This information comes from popular gaming YouTuber Shirrako, who has millions of subscribers on the platform.

In his latest tweet, Shirrako states that sources informed him of the existence of Dark Souls remakes and that this project targets the entire trilogy. Given the fact that Shirrako has been part of the gaming scene for so long, it wouldn’t be too shocking to learn that the YouTuber has reliable contacts within the industry.

The report does not say much else, leaving open the question of whether FromSoftware is actually working on these remakes in-house or outsourcing them to another studio. In the past, Bluepoint Games remade Demon’s Souls, but PlayStation recently shut down this team altogether.

If FromSoftware decides to remake the trilogy itself, the studio would certainly have a lot of room to improve the games, especially Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2. Anyhow, replies to the tweet show mixed reactions from fans.

Some believe remaking Dark Souls is a good idea, while others have brought up the need for a Bloodborne remake, which seems increasingly unlikely at this point. Fans also argue that the series is great as it is and doesn’t necessarily need to be remade.

As exciting as the prospect of Dark Souls remakes may be, it’s still worth taking this information with a grain of salt before more leakers corroborate the report. If the report is indeed trustworthy, more information about these supposed remakes should come up soon.
