- This story has warmed the hearts of many fans.
Capcom is on a hot streak this year with back-to-back quality releases, first with Resident Evil Requiem and now with Pragmata, the publisher’s most mysterious and unique release that has taken years to come out.
It’s safe to say that Pragmata has made the impact that Capcom intended to and, with its ‘Sad Dad’ trope, has won over fans. However, this one fan felt especially connected to the game after learning that his late daughter bore a striking resemblance to Diana.
Why it matters: Video games are amazing, and they touch our hearts more often than not. Pragmata is another instance that has warmed the hearts of thousands of players worldwide.
55-year old user TheRealDuke777 posted on Pragmata’s subreddit, sharing that his late daughter, McKenzie Erin, passed away in 2009 at just 9 years old. When his other daughter pointed out that Diana from the game looked like McKenzie, the redditor had to try the game.
Upon purchasing the entire game bundle and trying it out, he was shocked to see how much Diana looked like his late daughter and what he had to say later on made us all emotional.
Diana is very much like both my daughters. Maybe I got a little bit teary eyed. Maybe… I absolutely love this game and the time Ella spends with me. PRAGMATA is Therapeutic for my soul.
This post has gained a lot of traction, now nearing 10k likes and with comments from fans filled with support. The game director for Pragmata has also taken notice of this story and wrote “Thank You” on X.

For those not familiar, Pragmata’s story follows Hugh and his 6-year-old daughter as they make their way back to Earth while fighting a hostile rogue AI-controlled space station. The entire survival story also focuses on the developing emotional bond between the father and the daughter.
