After The Absymal PS5 Port Starfield Could Be Coming To Nintendo Switch 2

Starfield Might Get Another Shot At Revival After Its Badly Optimised PS5 Port.

Story Highlight
  • On the Taiwanese rating board, an entry for the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Starfield has been discovered.
  • No release date is mentioned on the database entry, but the RPG is now confirmed for the console.
  • Bethesda’s 2023 title has had a difficult time running on the PS5, with frequent crashes plaguing it.

Years after its initial release on PC and Xbox Series X|S, Starfield finally launched on the PS5 this month. However, the port has been less than ideal so far, suffering from game-breaking technical issues that crash the RPG in under 10 minutes.

Starfield has also failed on the sales front on PS5, selling just 140k copies despite having a strong pre-order presence on the charts. This horrible launch on the platform hasn’t stopped Bethesda, however, as the studio is already preparing to port the RPG to another console.

Why it matters: Starfield has turned out to be so badly optimised on the PS5 that players are refunding the game, so one can only assume the RPG will be an even bigger car crash on the Switch 2.

In the database of the Taiwan Entertainment Software Rating Board, a listing for the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Starfield has been discovered. The rating doesn’t include any information regarding the RPG’s launch on the platform, but assures that it is coming to the console.

Speculation regarding a Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Starfield has been going on for a while now. Insiders previously claimed that the title was heading to the platform in 2026, but others weren’t even sure the RPG would be playable on the Switch 2.

Credible leakers reported that Starfield was having problems running on the Nintendo Switch 2 and that the development process for the port wasn’t smooth at all. Some even claimed that the port might get canned due to issues during production.

Starfield has been suffering from severe technical issues on PS5.

However, from the looks of it, Starfield is set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 sooner rather than later. If the game’s frequent crashing on the PS5 is any indication, the RPG might not be the best time on the console.

Do you think a Switch 2 port for Starfield is a good idea, or should Bethesda take some time to polish it, considering all the problems in the PS5 edition? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.
