- Rockstar Games is working on a procedural glass-breaking system for GTA 6.
- A LinkedIn profile shows that an entire team was working on this system.
- This is just one of the many elements expected to advance the simulation-based gameplay of the Grand Theft Auto series.
The GTA 6 release date draws nearer with each passing day, and many are excited at the prospect of Grand Theft Auto’s jump to the latest technology. In addition to dynamic weather, advanced water physics, and more interactive environments, GTA 6 is said to be adding a lot of new features to the series.
A discovery also reveals that Rockstar Games is working on an all-new glass-shattering technology for the game.
Why it matters: Rockstar Games is pushing the Grand Theft Auto series to its limits with GTA 6, so this is just one of the many big innovations fans can look forward to for the title.

The latest reveal comes from the LinkedIn profile of Brady Jessup, who worked as a Graphics Programmer for Rockstar Games. According to his profile, the developer worked at the studio between 2020 and 2023, taking the lead on the next-generation procedural system for breakable glass.
It is said that this system applies to both vehicles and props, setting the stage for more realistic glass-shattering physics and systems in GTA 6. Perhaps the game will allocate realistic properties to individual shards of glass as they shatter, creating more realistic scenarios and overall destruction.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Rockstar Games has attempted to incorporate detailed simulation elements for destruction. In the past, a game like GTA 4 was lauded for its detailed effects, like deflating vehicle tires and ragdolls, so GTA 6 appears to be continuing this legacy.
Also, since Brady Jessup was leading this project, it appears the studio had an entire team working on this system.

It should be noted that this detail has since been removed from Brady Jessup’s LinkedIn profile, likely due to the secrecy surrounding GTA 6. However, with marketing for the game expected to kick off during the summer, fans could see a glimpse of this system in action very soon.
