A Full Star Wars: KOTOR 2 Remake Reportedly In Development Alongside The Original

The Anticipated Star Wars: KOTOR Remake Could Also Be Around The Corner!

Story Highlight
  • A notable report claims Disney and Lucasfilm Games have been planning a Star Wars: KOTOR 2 remake.
  • It is a full and modern remake codenamed Juliet that has been in development as recently as March.
  • A credible insider also previously said the Star Wars KOTOR remake will appear at The Game Awards.

The Star Wars franchise is also one of the most influential when it comes to games. While many projects are a hit or miss, the Knights of the Old Republic titles are considered a nostalgic masterpiece that fans have been wanting to experience via remakes for a long time.

The original KOTOR remake has been in development since 2021, with no other official sightings so far. However, a new report says it has not only been in development as recently as early this year, but a remake of the second entry has also been in the works.

Why it matters: Disney and Lucasfilm Games seem to have big plans for the Star Wars KOTOR franchise, even if the original remake is still nowhere to be seen for years. Many insiders have considered it dead since, but new reports suggest otherwise.

Star Wars KOTOR 2 Remake
Star Wars KOTOR 2 Remake is being planned, claims a credible report.

A report by Game File’s Stephen Totilo highlights that a full-fledged modern remake of the second KOTOR, codenamed Juliet, was in the works as recently as March 2025. It is also supposed to come with all of Obsidian’s cut content.

This comes via legal documents sifted by Stephen, so it’s unclear if Aspyr’s KOTOR II remake is still in development.

with modern art, modern gameplay, you know, keep the story and the characters and the general—the general content of KOTOR 2, but remake it for modern hardware and modern machines with updated graphics and all those kinds of things.

-Douglas Reilly, Lucasfilm Games vice president.

The second remake being in development also doesn’t sound absurd anymore because credible insider Kurakasis recently teased that the KOTOR I remake will be unveiled at The Game Awards on December 11th.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
Fans are also excited for the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

On a side note, Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi 3 could also be announced soon, as it was confirmed to be in development earlier this year.
