Naughty Dog revealed its brand-new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, almost a year ago, sparking skepticism and curiosity among the fans. While some are really interested in the company’s new venture, others already call it a DEI mess.
Fans were anticipating a first detailed look at Intergalactic at The Game Awards; however, reliable sources have confirmed that it won’t be appearing at the event and won’t even launch in 2026.
Why it matters: This is the first time in years that Naughty Dog is working on a new IP, and especially a space adventure, which is a first for them, so the project is quite intriguing.
There was a rumor floating around that Intergalactic would be released in 2026. Jason Schreier took to Reddit to confirm that the rumor is false, which was later corroborated by another known insider, Shpeshal Nick.
Moreover, Jeff Grubb also negated another rumor, stating that it won’t be shown at TGA 2025 either. People were hoping it would show up, considering Naughty Dog confirmed that the game is already content-complete.
Nonetheless, the wait for Intergalactic is till 2027 at least. This could be PlayStation’s way of tackling the competition since it has Saros and Wolverine planned for 2026. Moreover, GTA 6 also takes the prime release window.
For now, don’t expect anything about the game in the upcoming months. However, this could be an important IP in the future as the studio already reveals its plans to expand it to sequels and TV adaptations.
