- Dying Light: The Beast has become the second-biggest launch in the series.
- It reached 115,000 players over the weekend, surpassing the first title but falling behind the sequel.
- It is also the best-rated Metacritic title of the series, with a very positive reception.
Dying Light: The Beast recently launched to a widely positive reception, becoming the highest-rated Metacritic game in the franchise. It has even beaten the first Dying Light in terms of players, marking a very successful launch for Techland.
The first game in the franchise only managed to max out at 45K players, while the sequel managed over 250K players, but now Dying Light: The Beast has managed to hit 115K players, becoming the second-biggest launch in the franchise.
Why it matters: Even before the launch, the title was poised to become a massive hit. Although it couldn’t manage to break past its predecessor’s number, its reviews are much superior to those.
Dying Light: The Beast hit 115K players on the weekend. While even higher numbers were expected, given how it was wishlisted a million times, it’s still very decent. The overall reviews on Steam are still very positive.
Many things make the game stand out. One of its main highlights is the performance. In a world where almost every game launch is broken, it’s even well-optimized for lower-tier hardware, albeit there’s no ray tracing at launch.
Furthermore, the mechanics have been revamped, and everything from the parkour to the combat feels much better now. In addition, it continues the story of Kyle Crane, so it is basically a sequel to the first game.
Overall, Dying Light: The Beast is one of the best launches of the year. Techland has truly delivered once again, as it combines the horror survival genre with action to a great effect, like the previous titles in the franchise.
