The entire Blackwell lineup from Nvidia was a massive disappointment, with problems ranging from supply shortages, power connectors melting, low ROPs, underwhelming performance, and whatnot.
While the supply problem has finally started to stabilize, Nvidia has finally realized that nobody wants the 8GB cards anymore. As such, the GPU manufacturer is scaling down the production of the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060ti (8GB), likely because nobody is willing to buy these cards.
Why it matters: With modern AAA games requiring more and more power, 8GB cards aren’t feasible anymore. Despite becoming irrelevant, Nvidia still released 8GB cards in 2025.
As per Board Channels Forums, Nvidia is cutting the supply for the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060ti cards by 15% and 30% respectively. Moreover, this reduction in supply is also expected to reduce orders for third-party GPU vendors such as Asus, MSI, etc.
Therefore, the demand and supply for these models, as mentioned above, are expected to be quite tight in the first half of September. Interestingly, there wasn’t a mention of the RTX 5060ti 16GB variant in this report. This implies that Nvidia is targeting 8GB GPUs only.
Previously, it was also reported that Nvidia had oversupplied the RTX 50-Series GPUs amidst poor GPU sales. With such high price tags and low performance, nobody was willing to buy the Blackwell GPUs. However, the tech giant is now cutting prices for its newest GPU lineup.
Hopefully, this is the last generation of new 8GB GPU models. The performance of the RTX-50 Series cards has been a wake-up call for Nvidia, especially when AMD is creeping up to the competition.
