- Hollow Knight has managed to record a new peak player count thanks to the sequel.
- Silksong’s hype has led players to prepare for the title by revisiting the original game.
- The sequel finally comes out on September 4 after many years of waiting.
Hollow Knight is widely regarded as one of the best platformers of all time. Released in 2017, the game won everyone’s hearts, and fans were thrilled when a sequel was announced. With just a few weeks till release, the hype is unreal.
Following the announcement of Silksong’s release date, the original Hollow Knight has hit a new peak player count 8 years after release. It was such a long time coming, and fans seem to be preparing to jump into the new adventure.
Why it matters: Platformers and similar genre titles in general don’t attract too big an audience in most cases, so seeing how massively anticipated Hollow Knight Silksong is, it’s great news for Team Cherry.
Hollow Knight previously had a peak player count of around 20,000, which it achieved when the last gameplay for Silksong was revealed in 2022. Now, when the launch is closer than ever, it has gotten past 23,000 players on Steam.
So, fans are not only returning to the title, but it is also attracting a new audience, which already poises Silksong on the verge of massive success. In addition, it is also the most wishlisted upcoming game on Steam.
Hollow Knight: Silksong finally releases on September 4, 2025, and will be available on all major platforms. Team Cherry has revealed that it already plans to support it for a long time, and a DLC is already in the works.
