Battlefield 6 Beta Hits 473K Players on Steam; Gamers Stuck In Long Queues Again

Number Is Expected To Go Higher!

Story Highlight
  • The beta of Battlefield 6 has reached a new all-time high of 473K players.
  • This has caused thousands of players to wait in queues again.
  • The primary cause of the sudden increase in the player count is the weekend and the fact that early access has ended.

Battlefield 6 Beta launched to around 300K players on launch. As it was a beta, EA perhaps didn’t expect this many players to test the game. That is why thousands of players were stuck in queues and had to wait for hours before getting a chance to experience the goodness of Battlefield.

The developer took notice instantly and tried to strengthen the servers, making the queue shorter and shorter. However, the game has just crossed 473K players on Steam, causing many to be stuck in a long queue again.

Why it matters: Companies don’t expect hundreds of thousands of players to test a game’s beta, as such an occurrence is infrequent.

Recently, the game reached a new all-time high of 473,508 players on Steam. This is mainly due to the weekend, as many players were unable to play the beta. Another thing worth noting is that many fans were unable to get the early access code to play the game on August 7th and 8th.

With early access over and it not being a weekday, the new peak makes total sense. Also, given how the player count has been increasing, it won’t be surprising to see it rise again shortly.

However, this may frustrate players as they have to wait for a while again. EA may have already taken notice of the situation and could be increasing the capacity of servers at the time of writing, but the company has yet to confirm it.

The beta has received a lot of positive reception, but there are some concerns. Many have reported that the game is struggling to run on older Ryzen CPUs despite meeting official system requirements. Another primary concern is the necessity of secure boot, as even with it, the game was filled with cheaters on day one.
