Now, it seems another franchise is getting the same treatment. A Far Cry TV show is officially underway at FX, revealed via a Ubisoft article, which was taken down just moments later.
Why it matters: With cinema adaptations of video games becoming increasingly popular in the industry, it was only a matter of time before Ubisoft followed suit. That said, Far Cry is an interesting candidate for this treatment.

The anthology will not be adapting any of the stories from the Far Cry games, but instead will adapt an original story filled with a brand-new cast, location, etc. The show will be renewed for multiple seasons, following the games’ format to present a new story with each iteration.
This move raises a few questions, as the franchise lacks a unique trait beyond its survival themes. It is unclear how the showrunners will translate the Far Cry essence into the show with a new cast and story without making it seem like a typical action-survival show.
