Fans have asked Rockstar Games for an upgraded version of Red Dead Redemption 2 on consoles for the longest time, and recent rumors have suggested that the studio is finally ready to grant these wishes.
Following early discussions, a new hint provides even more concrete evidence that Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to receive the next-generation treatment.
Why it matters: The game, despite being one of the best console experiences of the last generation, is unable to reach its full potential on the PS5 and Xbox Series S|X in its current state.
Rockstar Games’ website now shows an ‘Online Migration’ tab for Red Dead Redemption 2 in the Support section. This is significant since a similar system was used for GTA Online account migrations when the game received different versions across the various console generations.
Effectively, this option should allow fans to transfer their existing characters and save data to a newer version of the game. Because Red Dead Redemption 2 currently has a single version on consoles, this likely means that a completely new port is on the way.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is in dire need of 60FPS, higher resolution support, faster loading, and more on the PS5 and Xbox Series S|X. Fans can expect all of that and more once the next-generation version arrives.
