- PlayStation has officially begun to refund MindsEye.
- The gaming giant acknowledged technical problems with the game and could even remove it from the PlayStation Store.
- Similar steps were previously taken for Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020.
MindsEye created plenty of discourse after its initial reveal and recent previews. Although the game never looked too great, it had the talent of Leslie Benzies behind it, leading to some hope within the fandom.
At release, MindsEye failed to gain any traction and was reviewed negatively. Players continued to complain about technical hitches and various performance issues, and it seems PlayStation has now begun to refund the game.
Why it matters: PlayStation is famous for not being too friendly when it comes to refunds. The fact that the gaming giant has agreed to refunds illustrates how serious the matter is.
As shared on Reddit, user u/MasterofMoogles1995 was able to secure a refund from PlayStation with relative ease.
The user has even shared a screenshot of the conversation with PlayStation Support, where the representative acknowledged MindsEye’s technical problems and promised to investigate the matter further.
Another refund report showed up on X, so PlayStation appears to be refunding users without any exceptions. It will be interesting to see how the next few days turn out for MindsEye because the game seems to have found itself in the same position as Cyberpunk 2077.
CDPR’s RPG was refunded much the same in 2020, but it was also delisted from PlayStation later. Because this was such a rare case, MindsEye has joined the small list of poor releases PlayStation deems worthy of an instant refund.
Still, it remains to be seen if Build a Rocket Boy’s debut action game will go through a similar fate later this month.
