The Witcher 4 Fans Are Upset With New Gameplay Just Being A Tech Showcase

Fans Are Hesitant To Trust Because Of CDPR's Past Track Record!

Story Highlight
  • The Witcher 4 fans have taken to videos and social media to discuss the new gameplay tech showcase.
  • Many fans are disappointed with just getting a vertical slice and are hesitant to trust in CD Projekt Red given its past track record.
  • Users believe it’s best to keep expectations in check, as the actual gameplay may differ in terms of visuals and optimization.

We finally got an official look at The Witcher 4 after months of waiting, which gave us over 10 minutes of footage. However, CDPR recently confirmed that the new content was nothing more than just a tech demo built specifically to show the prowess of Unreal Engine 5.

This tidbit has upset many Witcher 4 fans because they wanted to see an actual look into The Witcher 4 instead of only a vertical slice. As a result, they have taken to videos and social media posts to express disappointment and reluctance in trusting the developers.

Why it matters: The Witcher 4 fans were disappointed to learn that no actual gameplay was shown, as CDPR only revealed a tech demo to show Unreal Engine 5 features. The final game could end up much different.

Despite CD Projekt Red confirming that some of the best talents in the industry are working on The Witcher 4, many fans have refused to trust the team due to negative experiences with The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.

For those not in the know, the initial E3 2014 demo of The Witcher 3 looked much better than the final launch. All the post-launch drama with Cyberpunk 2077 has also made it tough for fans to accept that The Witcher 4 will look as well as the tech demo.

Additionally, The Witcher 4 tech demo ran at 60 FPS on the base PS5 with ray tracing, but fans find it difficult to believe that the final gameplay will run just as well without suffering downgrades.

Regardless, Ciri looks much closer to her Witcher 3 counterpart in the new footage compared to the reveal trailer. It is something that many fans have appreciated.

Do you think The Witcher 4 will look like the vertical slice footage that we were shown? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
