Fans Say That The Subscription Service Has Declined In Quality!

Story Highlight
  • Fans say PS Plus Premium is not worth the value and has declined in quality.
  • Only 10 classic titles have been added to the high-tier service this year.
  • The subscription service also had a price hike recently, costing $160 a year.

Sony rebranded the PS Plus subscription service almost three years ago to compete with Xbox Game Pass. The new PS Plus is offered in three different tiers: PS Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium.

As the name suggests, PS Plus Premium is the top-tier offering from PlayStation. Despite its high price tag, fans now claim that it is no longer a viable option and has declined in value significantly.

Why it matters: As video game prices become increasingly expensive, people rely on subscription services to play more games. However, according to fans, PS Plus Premium lacks quality, which frustrates them.

PS+ Premium – 1 Year Value for Money Review
by inPlayStationPlus

According to fans, PS Plus Premium is only good value for money in the beginning stages, and the value rapidly declines after you’ve played the core legacy titles, which are pretty scarce.

As such, the higher-end subscription service is only viable for people who haven’t played games for a while or are entirely new to gaming.

While the game catalogue is also available on PS Plus Extra, the main selling points for Premium are the classic catalogue offering and cloud streaming. The game catalogue for PS2 and PS3 is stacked, but the additions to the service in 2025 thus far haven’t been that great.

Only 10 classic titles have been added this year, and cloud streaming isn’t significantly utilised. The same is true with the PSVR2 titles, and Sony admitted that the VR offering has flopped.
