  • Borderlands 4 is finally coming out later this year.

The Borderlands franchise is finally returning half a decade later. The developer revealed the first-look trailer during the Game Awards and recently confirmed that Borderlands 4 will be released later in September.

With just a few months left until release, the Gearbox CEO is focused on optimism. He recently urged fans, “If you want the best Borderlands game yet, support us and cheer us on.”

Why it matters: Since the game was developed using Unreal Engine 5, many fans have been concerned about its title.

Not too long ago, Gothalion, audience director for publisher Midwest Games, wrote on Twitter that Randy Pitchford had muted a fan for raising some valid concerns about Borderlands 4, as his critique came from a place of love.

He further wrote that it should be digested gracefully when long-term franchise supporters give feedback and worries. However, Randy replied to the tweet, stating that there weren’t any critiques and that what he saw was full of negativity, which was demotivating.

Want the best Borderlands? Root for us and cheer us on. If you take developer’s passion for granted, we’ll all pay the price.

It makes sense as the title is only a few months away from its release; the developers wouldn’t want to hear demotivating things about the title, as it’s discouraging for the team that has worked years on a project.
