Battlefield 6: Dice Looking At Everything That Worked In Past Games To Rebuild Franchise

Will Borrow Best Gunplay, Destruction, etc From Past Games!

Story Highlight
  • The Lead Battlefield Producer says the developers are aware of fan grievances with the series’ last entry.
  • Battlefield 6 is said to be incorporating the best of destruction, movement, and gunplay from past entries.
  • The studio is cherry-picking these elements from past titles to come up with the best experience possible.

Battlefield 6 is described as a return to the IP’s roots in more ways than one. It brings back 64-player matches, realistic destruction, and a focus on a modern military setting.

As EA and Dice prepare for the game’s first playtest, encouraging news about the latest iteration of the IP continues to flood in. As per the series’ current Lead Producer, Dice is carefully reflecting on its history to make Battlefield 6 the best game it can possibly be.

Why it matters: Battlefield 2042 was a huge departure from the IP’s traditional gameplay, so fans will be glad to see Dice heading in the opposite direction with the next iteration.

David Sirland, the Battlefield Lead Producer, recently replied to a fan comment expressing concerns about the series’ recent physics. The X user highlighted that Battlefield 2042 came with poor vehicle handling and physics that took away from the sense of realism traditionally associated with the IP.

The Lead Producer was quick to acknowledge this criticism and stated that Dice is already aware of such concerns. He went on to share the studio’s “cherry-picking” philosophy related to different areas of the game.

Effectively, Dice is looking at past games to come up with the best iteration of the series yet. As such, Battlefield 6 is likely to borrow the atmosphere of Battlefield 1, the smooth movement of Battlefield 5, the gunplay of Battlefield 3 or 4, and the destruction of Bad Company 2.

We are looking to find the best cherry-picking strategy for each area.

Each Entry From The Series Exhibits Different Strengths And Weaknesses

If Dice can successfully merge these elements, Battlefield 6 could end up being the dream first-person shooter that fans of this series have wanted for years. However, it may be best to tamper expectations after the series’ latest letdown.

What are your thoughts on Dice’s current plan? Do you think the studio will please fans with this approach? Let’s discuss this in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.
