Ever since Ghost of Yotei’s reveal at the recent Sony State of Play event, gamers have been worried about how AC Shadows’ sales would be affected. Ubisoft has also delayed the game till February 2025 because Star Wars Outlaws failed to meet sales expectations. However, despite that, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot is not concerned.
Yves recently clarified that both Assassin’s Creed and Ghost of Yotei can sell very well. He argues that the industry is big enough to support the launch of both high-quality games.

During a conference call on Wednesday, Ubisoft was asked whether the launch of similar Japanese action-adventure games in 2025 would compromise the sales of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The CEO denied these concerns and claimed that both games can “sell very well.”
“I would like to say that there’s a lot of space for very high quality games, and those two games can sell very well.”
The CFO of Ubisoft, Frederick Duguet, said that the main concern was to ensure that AC Shadows’ quality is top-notch, as it wants to deliver a fantastic experience.
However, users argue that Ghost of Yotei could eat away at the sales of AC Shadows because of its high quality. The similar setting and gameplay might propel the new Ghost game to dominate Assassin’s Creed Shadows if the quality in the latter is not there.
All in all, only time will tell whether Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be able to compete with Ghost of Yotei on similar grounds, considering the massive controversy surrounding the former.
