Astro Bot Has Increased Competition For The GOTY!

Story Highlight
  • Astro Bot has taken a massive lead in a new poll for GOTY 2024 on Twitter.
  • The new platformer has left many other popular titles in the dust, confirming its popularity.
  • It came out on September 6, 2024, for PS5 exclusively with a positive reception.

While Astro Bot already showed signs of being PlayStation’s biggest game this year ahead of release, no one expected it to overshadow other AAA behemoths in the industry. The platformer’s astounding launch has potentially made it the biggest contender for the Game of the Year 2024 Award.

A new and highly popular Twitter poll shows the game’s standing among all the other popular releases in 2024 thus far. In other words, Astro Bot has become the highest-voted entry suspected of winning the GOTY 2024 Award so far.

Why it matters: The poll on Twitter reveals that Astro Bot has already won over so many hearts since its recent release. This popularity has caused it to surpass many other excellent entries that came out earlier this year.

The poll started by the Twitter user @mrPyo1 has gained a lot of attention since it shows how well Astro Bot has held up against the AAA giants this year.

Despite the genre differences, the title has been compared with action RPGs like Final Fantasy 7 and Black Myth: Wukong—all because of how enjoyable it is. And to everyone’s surprise, it is heading towards winning this popularity contest.

Whether this hype continues for the rest of the year remains to be seen, as Black Myth: Wukong has also been breaking many records since its release.

On the flip side, Astro Bot has also already grown to become PlayStation’s highest-rated OpenCritic entry to date.

All in all, it’s worth noting that the popular poll on Twitter does not necessarily confirm that Astro Bot is winning the GOTY Award. Any contender can take this prestigious award home as the event has been unpredictable many times.

Astro Bot came out to a highly positive reception on September 6, 2024, for the PlayStation 5.
