Xbox Says More Upcoming Games Will Go Multiplatform

"Doom Is A Franchise Everyone Deserves To Play"

Story Highlights
  • Phil Spencer has confirmed that most of the announced Xbox games will be multiplatform.
  • This is a part of the plan as Microsoft looks to build its franchises and player bases.
  • Titles like Doom: The Dark Ages and Black Ops 6 are already announced for PS5.

Microsoft held a showcase yesterday that will be remembered for years to come. Amid the hype around it, the Xbox boss has confirmed that most of the titles announced yesterday will come to multiple platforms.

Why it matters: Earlier this year, Xbox claimed that only four of its games would go multiplatform. However, Microsoft did hint that it has the option to release even more titles on rival platforms.

Talking at the IGN Live, Phil Spencer confirmed that we will see more of their games on other platforms moving forward. Building the franchises and increasing the fan bases will be a part of Microsoft’s policy.

You are going to see more of our games on more platforms, and we just see that as a benefit to the franchises that we’re building.

– Phil Spencer

Doom: The Dark Ages has already been announced for the PS5. Referring to this announcement, Phil Spencer stated that everyone deserves to play this franchise, so he is happy to bring it to PlayStation.

As promised, Black Ops 6 is another multiplatform announcement. However, Phil Spencer indicates that this is just the beginning. Since Phil Spencer did not rule out any particular game, it may be safe to assume that almost everyone shown off could eventually be on PlayStation.

Xbox Exclusives
Xbox has a solid lineup of games for the future.

With no expectations of future hardware growth, this may be the right move.

Microsoft will provide these titles for Xbox owners on Game Pass. It will also continue to release them on PC, while PlayStation owners will be able to enjoy some of Xbox’s biggest titles through this approach.

Xbox games are already huge on PlayStation. Back in April, it was revealed that the recent multiplatform titles are some of the best-sellers on PlayStation. Therefore, this could remain the case with more titles arriving on the Sony-owned platform.
