Story Highlight
  • PlayStation’s latest State of Play is set to go live tomorrow.
  • The event promises a look at up to 14 PS5 and PS VR2 games.
  • A PC port for God of War Ragnarok is also expected to be revealed at this event.

Many have been wondering when the PlayStation Showcase for 2024 would go live. There have been several teases and rumors from insiders about one in May, but Sony’s lack of announcement was concerning.

Just as fans had begun to lose hope, the gaming giant has returned with an unexpected announcement. A State of Play event by PlayStation will be held on May 30, 2024.

Why it matters: Xbox Games Showcase, along with the Summer Game Fest, were announced a while ago, so fans have been waiting for Sony’s announcement.

PlayStation State of Play
The Long Awaited PlayStation State of Play Will Finally Go Live On May 30.

This announcement comes from the PlayStation’s official Twitter account. The giant usually announces State of Play events a few days in advance, so it was surprising for it to do so a day before the event goes live.

That said, this is better than nothing, and fans are pleased. According to PlayStation, a total of 14 PS5 and PS VR2 titles will be featured at the events. As always, Sony has probably prepared a few surprises.

Following this event, Konami will also go live with a Silent Hill transmission. Therefore, fans have two back-to-back shows to anticipate.

Considering this is a State of Play and not a showcase, fans should go in with lower-than-usual expectations.

Games like Death Stranding 2, while nearly complete, are unlikely to show up. Similarly, Insomniac has no plans to share more on Wolverine anytime soon. These games could be saved for the big showcase rumored for September 2024.

One recent rumor, however, suggests that God of War Ragnarok could be announced for PC. PlayStation has previously announced ports during State of Play events, so this may end up being the highlight of this stream.
