PlayStation Fans Love Xbox Games!

Story Highlights
  • Xbox is dominating the PlayStation Store best-sellers over PlayStation.
  • Xbox has 7 out of the 25 IPs on the list compared to Sony’s 5.
  • Microsoft may be on track to becoming the dominant publisher on this platform.

As the rivalry between Microsoft and Sony continues, there is one department in which Sony seems to be trailing behind Xbox. Thanks to major acquisitions over the years, the latter is now a superior publisher.

Microsoft currently has more titles on the PlayStation Store’s top 25 best-sellers than Sony itself.

Why it matters: PlayStation has emerged victorious in terms of console sales, but Xbox is not out of the game either. Its position as a publisher could be the key to Microsoft’s survival in the industry.

Microsoft Is In A Strong Position On The Digital Store

According to the data provided by TweakTown, out of the top 25 selling games, seven are Microsoft-owned, five are Sony-owned, and the rest are occupied by publishers like EA and Take-Two. This sales data puts Microsoft in a strong position on PlayStation.

Call of Duty seems to be the most popular title on PlayStation and has emerged as a best-seller nearly every month ever since the PS5 came out. After the Activision Blizzard deal, Microsoft is the owner of the IP, so they make a lot of revenue from it.

Then there are the latest revivals: Fallout 76 and Fallout 4. Ever since the Fallout TV show aired, the IP has exploded in popularity, and it seems to be equally admired by PlayStation fans, in addition to Steam users.

The audience will grow further with Fallout 4’s next-gen update arriving soon. Other Microsoft titles include Overwatch 2 and Minecraft, which have maintained their place as best-sellers on the PlayStation Store.

Upcoming releases like Sea of Thieves and Grounded are part of the list as well.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Call of Duty Is Seemingly Unstoppable

With Microsoft expanding to PlayStation, more titles are expected to join the list when they are released. Sea of Thieves has already shown how successful a major Xbox IP can be on this platform.

While Microsoft may not be winning the console wars, the company is more than making it up as a publisher. It even showed intent to be a good publisher for PlayStation and Nintendo, which might have been the best decision.
