New Record With 7 Years of Trailers!

Story Highlights
  • Ubisoft has released over 20 trailers for Skull and Bones.
  • The game was first announced almost seven years ago at E3 2017.
  • The final launch trailer was released yesterday, with the game coming on February 16.

Ubisoft first showed off Skull and Bones at E3 2017. Seven years later, it still hasn’t been released amid numerous delays and development troubles, but the game might have set a weird record.

Spanning so many years, Ubisoft has released a total of over 20 trailers for Skull and Bones.

Why it matters: Skull and Bones is built on the naval combat featured in the fan-favorite Assassin’s Creed 4. Therefore, the game has a successful recipe on its hands, making it a priority for Ubisoft’s marketing teams.

YouTube video

While Ubisoft has removed a bunch of trailers from its YouTube channel, most of them still exist. Funny enough, Ubisoft has debuted 12 trailers in the last year alone, as seen in the playlist here.

It is to be noted that this playlist only contains recent trailers. If we combine the older trailers that were announced over the rest of the years, the number becomes even larger.

This might just be a record number of trailers released for a single game. These trailers target different parts of the game. Some explain the gameplay mechanics, while others go over the themes of Skull and Bones.

The various previews also show the game’s development at different stages. Therefore, it might be easy to find inconsistencies due to the changes in the game over the years.

The latest addition to the bunch comes with Ubisoft’s launch trailer. As the studio prepares to release this multiplayer game, it has debuted a nearly three-minute trailer, which will hopefully be the last of Skull and Bones before its release.

Skull And Bones has faced a problematic development cycle. Slated for release in 2023, Ubisoft announced it would face another delay last year. Adding all the delays, the game has been pushed back at least five times.

However, Ubisoft’s teams appear surprisingly confident in this game. The studio claims that the Skull and Bones will have a lot of longevity. This should help the studio recoup the nearly $120 million budget spent on the title.

Skull and Bones’s latest release date is set for February 16, and an open beta is scheduled for tomorrow.
