Five Resident Evil Projects Are In Development, Says Leaker

Including Resident Evil 9 & RE5 Remake!

Story Highlights
  • The Resident Evil franchise is one of the most successful survival horror IPs in the world.
  • A new leak reveals a total of 5 Resident Evil projects are in development.
  • Two of these projects are expected to be Resident Evil 9 and Resident Evil 5 Remake.

Capcom has undeniably steered the Resident Evil franchise to success since its inception, achieving excellence and consistently delivering quality content. The series has now surpassed a remarkable milestone, selling over 146 million units worldwide.

Looking at recent success, the franchise is bigger than ever and is nowhere close to going away anytime soon. This claim gains further credibility from a recent leak by reputable insider Dusk Golem, who states that five Resident Evil projects are in development.

Why it matters: Capcom’s IP is a prominent part of the survival horror genre, and each new installment is eagerly awaited by a vast fanbase globally.

Dusk Golem also disclosed that the much-rumored Resident Evil 9 is included among the projects in development. Additionally, there are speculations that one of the projects might be a remake of Resident Evil 5 following recent teasers.

The prospects of a new mainline release accompanied by a remake appear promising for the future of the series, given that the developers do not try something out of the ordinary with all the projects.

However, many fans are asking for Resident Evil – Code: Veronica and Outbreak to be remade. While this can be a possibility, it does not seem very likely as Capcom already skipped past Code: Veronica to remake Resident Evil 4.

Capcom Resident Evil 7 Biohazard

Capcom’s current focus appears to be on numerical mainline entries in the franchise. However, the publisher recently revealed that it would release more remakes, which could mean good news for Code: Veronica and Outbreak fans.

Nonetheless, only Resident Evil 9 and a fifth remake sound locked in for the time being.

Capcom has a great talent for remaking games, as they showcase each release in modern-day graphics while adding new content that does not compromise the original vision of such iconic titles.

We cannot wait to learn more about these projects. We are expecting a lot as the franchise has hit the bullseye with each new release recently, making the future much more exciting for the series.
