More Affordable 3D V-Cache Chips!

According to a reliable source, AMD plans to add more processors to its existing X3D lineup for the Ryzen 5000 series. At the moment, AMD offers the Ryzen 7 5800X3D and Ryzen 5 5600X3D chips on the old AM4 platform.

Twitter user chi11eddog reports AMD plans to release the Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D.

The Ryzen 7 5700X3D will be a cheaper replacement of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. This new 8-core processor from AMD is expected to feature a base and boost frequency of 3.0 GHz and 4.1 GHz, respectively. Compared to that, the Ryzen 5800X3D runs 400 MHz higher.

The Ryzen 5 5500X3D, on the other hand, will be a cheaper variant of the Ryzen 5 5600X3D. In terms of specs, the Ryzen 5 5500X3D features 6 cores with a base and boost clock of 3.0 GHz and 4.0 GHz, respectively.

This would make it around 300 MHz slower than its bigger brother. Furthermore, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D and the Ryzen 5600X3D will feature 96MB of L3 cache. Depending on the price, both of these chips could prove quite popular.

The Ryzen 7 5800X3D is currently the best-selling chip on the older AM4 platform. However, the Ryzen 5 5600X3D was only made available through Micro Center in the United States. Therefore, this chip never received much attention.

If AMD does not repeat this scenario, the Ryzen 5 5500X3D could make a great option for builders on a budget, supporting cheaper motherboards. Likewise, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D would be another appealing option.

Hopefully, AMD will offer both chips globally instead of going through a retailer-exclusive launch. However, that will only be revealed once an official announcement is made.
