Alan Wake 2 Was So Good Thanks To Epic Games, Says Remedy

"They Let Us Make The Game We Wanted."

Alan Wake 2 has been finally released after more than a decade of waiting from the fans, and Remedy has nailed every aspect, as the game is receiving praise from all around the world for its breathtaking visuals, captivating narrative, and engaging mechanics.

Remedy deserves every bit of the praise it has received, but it appears the studio was not the sole reason for this success. Thomas Puha from Remedy has recently thanked Epic Games for being an incredible publishing partner.

Why it matters: Allowing developers to realize their own vision without interference can often lead to exceptional results, and Alan Wake 2 seems to be the perfect example of this scenario.

Following the excellent reception of Alan Wake 2, Thomas Puha took to Twitter and appreciated Epic Games for its contributions to the game. He pointed out that Remedy had full control of the game and said:

“They let us make the game we wanted.”

He also stated that Epic Games cared about the game and was nothing but supportive during the development process.

With Alan Wake 2 now being one of the highest-rated releases of 2023, Epic Games and Remedy have done an excellent job overall. However, one caveat of working with the publisher came in the form of a digital-only release.

Recently, Sam Lake confirmed that this decision was up to the publisher, so a physical release does not appear likely anytime soon. Nonetheless, this partnership has resulted in another excellent game for 2023.

Alan Wake 2

With so many stories of publishers forcing developers to focus on certain elements or push out a game before it is ready, we find it heartwarming to see Remedy and Epic Games collaborating on such a well-received horror game.

We think other publishers should take note and allow their studios to make the games they want.

Alan Wake 2 is easily one of the best releases of 2023, excelling in every department, with the game’s visuals showing a next-gen look amid a plethora of cross-gen games this year.

Following the recent release, the horror game has also become a strong favorite for Game of the Year in 2023, standing tall against the likes of Spider-Man 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, and more.
