Starfield Still Averaging 50K Steam Players Each Day

High Numbers Nearly 2 Months After Release!

Starfield is another fine addition to Bethesda’s long list of RPG releases. It has already been nearly two months since the game was released, yet it continues to attract thousands of players each day.

Such reception has made it the most important launch for Xbox this generation. Over on the Steam platform, the RPG has also continued to reach an average of around 50K players on Steam each day.

Why it matters: Traditionally, multiplayer games are known to keep players interested and coming back months after release. However, these player counts can rival many of the most popular multiplayer games despite the RPG’s single-player nature.

Starfield Steam Concurrent Players

As per SteamDB, the game currently has 41K concurrent players on Steam. However, it peaked at over 60K concurrent players in the last 24 hours.

Looking at the statistics for the last week, Starfield has consistently reached a peak of nearly 50K concurrent players. On 15 October, the game peaked at 82K concurrent players, showing plenty of interest from fans.

Apart from Steam, the game has also stayed on top of the Xbox charts. Not too long ago, it was the third most-played game on the platform, beating out many of the most popular free-to-play titles.

In the past, a massive release like Hogwarts Legacy quickly lost most of its Steam players after incredible buzz at release. While this title is still among 2023’s biggest releases, it has struggled to reach concurrent player counts above 15K this week.

Xbox Starfield

However, such player retention is not exclusive to Starfield among single-player games. Baldur’s Gate 3 is doing even better, averaging around 200K players on Steam since its August release.

Nonetheless, these are great results for Bethesda and Xbox.

With efforts already in progress to bring more players to Starfield, the RPG is expected to grow further in the coming months.

Todd Howard has asserted that this RPG was designed to keep gamers engaged for many years. Therefore, this is just the beginning, and the game has much more to offer for explorers willing to travel to the depths of the universe.
