Final Fantasy 16 To Reportedly Skip Epic Games Timed Exclusivity on PC

Expected To Arrive On Steam Day One!

The latest Final Fantasy release on PC launched as a timed exclusive to the Epic Games Store, which has had people wondering if Final Fantasy 16, which has begun development for PC, would get the same treatment.

However, it seems that the latest installment in the franchise will not follow this trend as Fantasy 16 will not be a timed exclusive to Epic Games, according to VG247’s Feature Editor, who recently shared the information in a Resetera thread.

Why it matters: Final Fantasy 16 has already reached millions of players on PS5, leading to a lot of excitement for the JRPG title from the PC crowd.

Final Fantasy 16 Square Enix

This report means that Final Fantasy 16 will be available on Steam at release.

Since PC users are already in for a long wait, users of the Steam platform will be glad to know that any additional delays due to Epic Games Store timed-exclusivity appear unlikely.

The information also suggests that Square Enix and Epic Games Store’s contract has ended, potentially hinting at similar day-one Steam releases for upcoming titles like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

As stated before, the game is presently being developed for PC. Naoki Yoshida made this announcement in a video a few days ago and revealed that two DLCs for Final Fantasy 16 are also being worked on.

The editor’s report spoke briefly about the Final Fantasy 16 DLCs and stated:

“The DLC isn’t an epilogue but something that buffs out the world in the middle of the story.”

He went on to say that the DLC may be likened to how Mass Effect or even Final Fantasy 15 handled their DLCs in terms of narrative.

Final Fantasy 16 was released as a PS5 timed exclusive for six months in June, and the game has performed incredibly well, earning a positive reception and selling over 3 million units on a limited PS5 install base.

Following this reception, the game has done wonders for Creative Business Unit 3. The team has already expressed a desire to work on more games in the series, and this success could motivate Square Enix to consider the studio for another future mainline title.
