Final Fantasy 16 Devs Could Not Get Seamless Loading On PC In Time For Launch

Square Enix Potentially Tried To Release FF16 On PC At Launch!

Final Fantasy 16 will be available this week, and reviews for the game will be out in just a few days. Fans looking to try the game can also enjoy a two-hour-long demo, but the game will only be available to PS5 owners.

Since Final Fantasy 16 is a console exclusive, the developers have hinted at a PC release multiple times. According to a new report, Square Enix may have been looking to release the PC version alongside the PS5 version.

However, the developer did not have enough time to optimize the title.

Why it matters: Previous games like Final Fantasy 7 Remake were released on PC after a year, and fans on the platform are looking forward to Final Fantasy 16.

According to Producer Naoki Yoshida, the studio wants to create a version with seamless loading screens on PC.

The game is expected to showcase the PS5’s power, and this includes the nearly instant transitions between cutscenes and gameplay. This is made easier by the PS5 architecture and SSD, but development on PC would take more time.

As such, the Producer claims that the studio did not have enough time to optimize the game for PC. However, PC fans should not be too disappointed, as he also confirmed more information about the PC port would be revealed in time.

Previously, the Producer claimed that Final Fantasy 16 would require a $2000 PC to run well. This referred to the version optimized for the PS5, hinting that Square Enix had a lot of work to do for the PC release.
