Intel 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh Would Arrive In Oct-2023

Focused On Low Power Consumption!

According to a reliable source ECSM, we get to know that Intel has 2 upcoming significant products for the next 12 months, which are the 14th Generation Intel Core desktop processor, known as the Raptor Lake Refresh, and also Sapphire Rapids Refresh for the next Xeon W2500/W3500 series.

Regarding the release date, the Raptor Lake Refresh-K is rumored to be released in October. And the Raptor Lake Refresh Non-K in November or December.

Although Raptor leaks were mentioned many times before, the fact that Intel would be refreshing its workstation HEDT platform has never been discussed before. Sapphire Rapids Refresh will launch in early 2024.

Backwards Compatibility with CPU Coolers and Motherboards

Low power consumption is the main improvement of these new 14th-Gen Raptor Lake Refresh processors. Intel will implement the Digital Linear Voltage Regulator (DLVR) to do this.

In short, a digital voltage regulator can reduce CPU consumption by up to 25%. This will imply improvements at the thermal level, making it possible to provide a performance gain of 7%. As a reference, it would be like having an Intel Core i9-13900K, but instead of consuming 253W at maximum performance, it will reach 189W.

The leaker informs us that all Intel 600 and 700 motherboards will support Raptor Lake Refresh, which will extend the lifespan of the LGA 1700 platform by at least another year. The same would apply to Xeon W-2500 and W-3500 series, which would also be a drop-in replacement for the W790 platform.

A powerful GPU capable of competing with AMD will also be incorporated. It is expected that there will be performance improvements of up to 34% at the CPU level, all this because Intel would have ended up resorting to TSMC’s 3nm.
