A few days before launch, the game has already won the hearts of critics worldwide, receiving excellent reviews. The game appears to be on track for similar reception from the public, as it has already become the best-selling game on Steam.
Why it matters: The fighting game genre is relatively niche compared to other genres, but Street Fighter’s popularity appears to break free from these limitations, reaching the top of Steam.
As seen above, Street Fighter 6 has surpassed games like the latest Call of Duty and Red Dead Redemption 2 to reach the top spot. The aforementioned games are currently on sale, while Capcom’s latest release is being sold at full price. Still, the game has managed to outpace the competition.
It should also be noted that this list does not include free-to-play games like CS:GO to compare the game with paid titles. Even if these games are included, Street Fighter 6 goes down by only a single spot.
Capcom is aiming for 10 million sold copies with Street Fighter 6. The previous game has already sold over 7 million copies, and Capcom’s new target is looking more achievable with the game’s current progress and recent reception.
