Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom Has Sold Over 10 Million Copies

Fastest Selling Legend of Zelda Game!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom has not been out for too long, and it has already set a new record for the franchise. According to Nintendo, Link’s latest outing has now exceeded over 10 million units sold worldwide.

Why it matters: Following its predecessor’s success, Tears of The Kingdom was always expected to sell millions of copies. However, it looks like Nintendo has exceeded everyone’s expectations with the recent launch.

The exceptionally positive critical reception for the game has likely played a part in the game’s current success. It has received several perfect scores from various media outlets and has since become OpenCritic’s best-rated game.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom also became the first Nintendo game to cost $70. However, the new price appears to have done little to harm sales. At this rate, it would not be surprising to see the title becoming the best-selling Nintendo Switch game of all time.

Link’s latest adventure introduces new mechanics like Ultrahand and Fuse. These additions encourage creativity and blend well with the game’s open-world sandbox, encouraging more players to enjoy the title.

Previously, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet also managed to sell over 10 million copies in just three days. This is an excellent achievement for the Legend of Zelda franchise and puts it on par with the popular Pokemon IP.
