Pearl Abyss has set itself as one of the most influential game developers in the industry with Crimson Desert. The game sold like hotcakes and set new standards for open-world games, and those milestones are now reflected in the company’s quarterly performance.
The company has now announced a record quarterly performance in its Q2 2026 report, seeing unprecedented sales of 196.2 billion Korean won and an operating profit of 67.6 billion Korean won.
In total, sales increased by a staggering 247.7%, while the operating profit hiked by a mind-numbing 7,411% YoY thanks to Crimson Desert’s immaculate success for Pearl Abyss.
Why it matters: Crimson Desert has been a gargantuan success for Pearl Abyss, pushing its YoY operating profit and quarterly sales to record extremes. The game is expected to produce great results over the months.

Pearl Abyss’ Q2 2026 financial results also reveal that the net profit swung from a 22.7 billion Korean won loss in Q2 2025 to a 99.5 billion Korean won profit in this quarter.
Additionally, the report shows that sales (-41.4% quarter-on-quarter) and operating profit figures (-68.1% QoQ) were still less than Q1, as the effects of the game were more obvious in the last quarter.
Regardless, Crimson Desert contributed about 70% of quarterly revenue for Pearl Abyss, and it generated 91% of the revenue from overseas sales.
In other words, the game was a staggering hit worldwide. Pearl Abyss also confirmed it sold over 5 million copies in just 26 days.
The studio also has lofty plans for the title’s future. Pearl Abyss says its DLC will launch sometime before 2026 ends. The exact details will be revealed in the third quarter. Additionally, the Switch 2 launch is expected in the first half of 2027.
We are currently developing the first DLC with the goal of delivering a new gameplay experience, targeting a release within this year.
