New IP From Respawn Coming Up!

A recent report has hinted at the development of a new title by Respawn Entertainment. While this may not be the Titanfall sequel fans wanted, a team led by Titanfall Director Steve Fukuda is working on a new IP.

Why it matters: Respawn Entertainment took a fresh approach to the FPS genre with Titanfall. The developer has seen great success with games like Apex Legends, and any future titles are sure to generate a lot of hype.

Titanfall Released 9 Years Ago

Talking to Axios, Vince Zampella revealed that Respawn Entertainment has dedicated a team to a new project. He stated:

“The mission is to find the fun in something new.”

Steve Fukuda is leading this team, but there are no further details about the project yet. Respawn Entertainment has previously created various phenomenal titles like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Apex Legends, and more.

The developer has experimented with multiple genres. As such, the new IP could once again deliver a completely new style of game from the team. However, FPS games are Respawn’s strong suit, so the developer could be looking to innovate in the genre again.

Unfortunately, for Titanfall fans, this means that Titanfall 3 may not come anytime soon. Previously, Vince Zampella expressed interest in Titanfall 3, but he also stated that there were no current plans to revive the franchise.

The studio is also working on other projects, including a new Star Wars FPS game. Additionally, a follow-up to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor seems likely after the reception of the latest release.

This means that Respawn Entertainment has its hands full with various new projects, but the developer is looking to innovate and create fresh, new experiences for the gaming industry.
