Recently, CD Projekt Red revealed more details on the new Cyberpunk 2077 ray tracing overdrive mode. This mode allows users to push their graphics cards to the limits, adding path tracing to the already impressive-looking game.
The developer has announced that ray tracing overdrive mode is now available, and patch 1.62 has started to roll out.
CD Projekt Red explains that ray tracing overdrive will only be supported for the current GeForce RTX 4000 graphics cards, with the GeForce RTX 3090 also included in the mix.
While this may imply that the mode is not available on older-generation graphics cards, this is not the case. Users with AMD hardware and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2000 and 3000 graphics cards can still try the new mode.
However, it might be best to stick to the older ray tracing modes for better performance. The developer has also added the option of path-traced screenshots for consumers with lower-end hardware capable of ray tracing.
Patch 1.62 also brings new additions like Nvidia DLAA and Intel XeSS. This should mean users have more options than before to tweak the game to their liking.
