Jim Ryan Does Not Want A New COD Deal!

Sony has once again confirmed its stance on the Activision Blizzard acquisition. A new document from the gaming giant outlines concerns about future Call of Duty issues after the merger and highlights Sony’s lack of confidence in Microsoft.

However, a few hours after the news about this document spread, Activision Blizzard CCO Lulu Cheng Meservey revealed that Sony was not even considering a negotiation. This revelation was followed by an alleged statement from Jim Ryan that dispels hopes of a deal between the two gaming companies.

According to the Activision CCO, Jim Ryan stated:

“I don’t want a new Call of Duty deal. I just want to block your merger.”

This statement was later subject to criticism from many, but Jim Ryan has not come forward to confirm or deny its validity yet.

Previously, Phil Spencer stated that Sony is more interested in talking to regulators and negotiating a deal. The alleged statement appears to be in line with Phil Spencer’s claims, further hinting at Sony’s lack of cooperation.

Following regulatory concerns, Microsoft signed a 10-year deal with Nintendo to bring the franchise to their platforms. A similar contract was offered to PlayStation, but the gaming giant has so far denied Microsoft’s offer.

Microsoft also offered Call of Duty games on the PS Plus subscription. However, this, too, was rejected, with Sony staying firm on its stance about the Microsoft-Activision Blizzard merger.

Over a year after the initial announcement, the future of the Activision Blizzard acquisition remains uncertain at best. Recent efforts from Microsoft may help convince the regulators, but Sony’s stance on the situation will be a tough challenge for Microsoft.
