The gaming industry was given its first look at GTA 6 last year after an unfortunate leak from Rockstar Games. Since then, fans have been waiting for an official trailer from the developer, and many signs have pointed to a reveal this year.
While nothing is set in stone yet, insider Tez2 suggests that Rockstar aims for a holiday 2024 release date. According to the leaker, the team may cut content from the base game to avoid significant delays.
Tez2 says Rockstar’s aiming for a Holiday 2024 release. from GTA6
Tez2 suggests that GTA 6 could be delayed to early 2025. With the incredible scope of each new entry from the franchise, development has likely become more costly and time-consuming, so this is not too difficult to imagine.
However, the studio may not be willing to accept delays beyond the early 2025 release window. This would result in fans losing out on a complete package at launch and having to pay for DLC afterward.
Modern gaming has become notorious for DLC releases, with many new games following this practice. DLC can range from story content to multiplayer expansions, but Rockstar has not released a major story DLC for GTA 5 or Red Dead Redemption 2.
The insider believes that future DLC for GTA 6 could be a real possibility in this scenario, but this could also mean that cut content might be integrated into the inevitable online component for GTA 6.
Tez2 also elaborated on Rockstar employees returning to offices for jobs. This could help the studio wrap things up quicker, making a 2023 reveal for GTA 6 more likely, but it could result in a few employees leaving the developer.
Nonetheless, GTA 6 will likely be a gigantic launch even if some of the game’s content is cut for an early release. The entire industry has been craving a new Grand Theft Auto title for nearly a decade now, and many fans might just be willing to accept the trade-off to avoid a delay.
