Redfall is set to be the first big AAA release for Microsoft in 2023. Developed by Arkane Studios, the co-op vampire hunter promises an exciting adventure with a similar level of quality that fans have come to expect from the developer.
With the online aspects of Redfall, many have been curious if Arkane Studios would pay less attention to offline gameplay. While this does not seem likely, new information could prove worrying for Redfall.
As spotted by Emopulse, Redfall will require an active internet connection for the single-player experience too.
This means that users without an internet connection cannot play the game. In instances where the internet connection is unavailable temporarily, Redfall will also be unplayable till the connection is restored.
Online-only games are not a new concept. Previously, some games with a significant multi-player aspect have always relied on active internet connections. However, Redfall comes from a developer who specializes in single-player games.
IPs like Dishonored are considered among the best releases from Arkane Studios, so this might shock some fans. Online-only games can also be problematic several years later if the servers are shut down.
Redfall is officially set to release on May 2. A previous leak has claimed that the game is not in a great state, but the developers remain confident about their latest franchise.
Judging by Bethesda’s answer, Redfall will be best played with friends or online co-op teammates instead of the traditional single-player offering that Arkane Studios has become well known for.
