The idea of selling post-mining graphics cards as new might not be new, but it looks like miners are now finding new ways to get rid of their old stock.

A graphics card expert named Paulo has presented his real-world experience on how to spot these graphics cards so users can avoid buying mined cards on the market.

There are a few well-known ways to spot mined graphics cards, including missing stickers or seals and screws that are rough in condition. These preventive measures are no longer relevant, as miners have become experts at hiding these imperfections.

Paulo says the easiest way to spot a mined graphics card is by the yellow tint on either the GPU Core or the memory. The yellow stain on the memory of the GPU is due to excessing usage or excessive heat on the card or by soldering components to a newer board. But miners also have a way of hiding that by painting the components to appear good as new.

Youtube channel TechLab has also done extensive research, investigating used graphics cards sold through different companies in Brazil. During their investigation, TechLab noticed that the used cards dealt on the market had different epoxy colors compared to brand-new cards, though it’s not easy to see unless the two cards are side by side.

Whatever the case, it’s always better to avoid retailers that sell mined graphics cards claiming them to be good as new unless you have extensive knowledge of spotting defeats.
