Japan is one of the biggest gaming markets worldwide, and Microsoft has also realized the market’s potential. The gaming giant is currently making a huge push to bring Xbox to more Japanese games.
It is no surprise that Microsoft also wants to bring more Japanese games to the Xbox platform, and a new job listing suggests that Microsoft is now looking for long-term strategic partnerships in Japan.
Despite the brand’s history in Japan, the console has gathered significant sales in Japan. Previously, Microsoft offered 5000 Yen Gift Cards with Xbox Series S purchases in Japan to bring even more Japanese users to the platform.
Looking at the responsibilities in the listing, Microsoft wants to collaborate with some of the world’s most prominent Game Creators in Japan. The listing states,
“You Will Develop professional relationships with key executive partners across the japan gaming ecosystem.”
“You will create strategic growth plans for partnerships with some of the world’s largest game creators.”
It seems like Microsoft wants to grow its market in Japan further. The company has collaborated with Japanese developers in the past, with titles like Blue Dragon for the Xbox 360 and the eventually canceled Scalebound.
Additionally, the company has also added a plethora of Japanese titles to Game Pass. Recent games like Persona 5 Royal are now on the subscription service, and upcoming games like Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will also join Game Pass, day one.
The job listing hints that Microsoft is going all out with Japanese developers for the Xbox Series S|X consoles. This means fans can expect a huge renaissance for Japanese games on the platform and future collaborations with big publishers.
Microsoft has done a great job with the Xbox series X|S in Japan, and it looks like the company will continue this trend in the coming years. Do you think they will succeed? Let us know in the comment section.
